Hello to our Norchester Red Knights Football Cheerleaders and Families! Welcome you to the Fall 2014 Season!
Before the pre-season begins, there is a lot of important information to pass along:
Family Orientation Meeting
Friday, August 1 at 6:30pm
Connie Batdorf Park, 2320 Pottstown Pike, Pottstown, PA 19465
All families, please attend this mandatory orientation to learn about the upcoming season. Come meet the Board, your coaches and fellow cheerleaders!
**We will also be fitting all our cheerleaders for their cheer uniforms inside the fieldhouse during Family Orientation.**
Please note: If you are unable to attend Family Orientation on August 1, please come to the Alternate Cheer Uniform Fitting on Tuesday, July 29, at 6:30pm at the fieldhouse at Connie Batdorf Park. (If you cannot make either of these fittings, please let your Coach or Cheer Director Casey Ohst know as soon as possible and we will make other arrangements.)
Physical Exam Forms and Copy of Birth Certificates due August 1
Every cheerleader is required to have a physical exam completed by a physician before practicing with the squad. We will also need a copy of your child’s birth certificate for the Registrar to keep on file. These two items must be received no later than August 1, 2014 (may bring to the Family Orientation Meeting) in order to start practice on Monday, August 11. Print the Physical Exam Form [pdf] >
All Head Cheerleading Coaches have been announced! Each Head Coach also works with their team of Assistant Coaches to provide the best cheer experience for our squads.

What to Wear/Bring to Practice
For practices, all cheerleaders should wear a t-shirt or tank (no spaghetti straps), cotton athletic shorts and sneakers (no flip flops or sandals). Pull hair back into a single ponytail and remove all jewelry including post earrings, jeweled bobby pins or barrettes, and hard plastic headbands. (Please note: earrings can get ripped out, especially during stunting, be sure to take them out before all practices and games.) Cheerleaders will not be allowed to participate in practices or games if they are wearing earrings or any jewelry. Please send a water bottle labeled with your child's name for water breaks.
The first official football game of the season is an away game at the Haverford Fords, held the weekend of September 5-6-7th. The specific game date/time will be announced by the home team (Haverford Fords). We will send out an email as soon as the date/time is posted. (Games are usually scheduled on Saturday and occasionally on Friday evening or Sunday afternoon.) See the full game schedule for the season >
Photo Night for League ID Card
Tuesday, August 19 at 7:00pm
Great Valley Middle School (in the lobby), 255 Phoenixville Pike, Malvern, PA 19355
* Flag Squad cheerleaders do not need a League Photo ID Card *
For Tackle squads, new cheerleaders and cheerleaders moving up from the Flag Squad will need to have their photo taken for a League ID Card. We hold onto these cards and use them to sign-in as a squad at every football game and the cheer competition. To obtain an ID Card, cheerleaders will need to present their original Birth Certificate. As soon as we have more information on the ID photo date and location, we will pass it along to you. (If you cheered for one of our Tackle Squads last year, we already have your Photo ID Card.)
Norchester Red Knights will provide your child with a cheerleading uniform (vest and skirt) for use during the season. You will receive a white long-sleeve bodysuit, black bloomers, and cheer socks prior to the first game (all were included in your registration fee). All Tackle Squad cheerleaders will need to be fitted by a local sporting goods store for white leather Nike Sideline Cheer sneakers (approx. $40, purchased separately). More information about the sneaker fittings will be coming shortly.
Flag Squad cheerleaders may purchase plain white sneakers at Wal-Mart or Target, as directed by your Flag Coach.
Kick Off Pep Rally!
Friday, September 5 at 6:30pm at Connie Batdorf Park
Save the date! Norchester Red Knights will host a fun Kick Off Pep Rally to get us fired up for the Fall 2014 Season. This is one of the most popular events for our football players, cheerleaders and families. More details to come!
Team Photo Day
Monday, September 8 in the evening (exact time/location TBD)
We will have a professional photographer come take individual and team/squad photos for purchase. No one is required to order pictures, but all cheerleaders should be available for taking the team picture.
Bert Bell Cheerleading Competition
Sunday, November 16 at West Chester University
Save this date! Each November, our cheerleading squads are invited to participate in the Bert Bell Memorial Conference Cheerleading Competition. Each squad prepares an exciting routine combining cheers, music, dance, stunts, tumbling and crowd participation! It is truly an amazing experience for the girls. We will most likely schedule some extra Saturday morning practices in the weeks leading up to competition to polish our routine!
