Hello to our Norchester Red Knights Football Players and Families! We would like to welcome you to the Fall 2014 Season!

Before the pre-season begins, we have a lot of important information to pass along:

Family Orientation Meeting
Friday, August 1 at 6:30pm

All families, please attend this mandatory orientation to learn about the upcoming season. Come meet your coaches and teammates!

Physical Exam Forms and Copy of Birth Certificates due August 1
Every player is required to have a physical exam completed by a physician before practicing with the team. We will also need a copy of your child's birth certificate for the Registrar to keep on file. These two items must be received no later than August 1, 2014 (may bring to the Family Orientation Meeting) in order to start practice on Tuesday, August 12. Download the Physical Exam Form [pdf] >

Practice
Our teams need every player present on a regular basis. The first day of practice is Tuesday, August 12. We will practice on the grass fields behind at North Coventry Elementary School.

What to Wear/Bring to Practice
All Flag players should wear practice pants or shorts, a t-shirt that is not too loose and can be tucked in, a mouthpiece and sneakers or cleats. Please bring a water bottle labeled with your child's name.

All Tackle players should wear a white jersey or white t-shirt over your pads for the first couple weeks of practice. (Leave your red practice jersey at home for now. No player may wear red yet.) You will also wear your helmet, chin strap, mouthpiece (not clear), shoulder pads, practice pants, athletic supporter and cup, girdle to place pads into, hip pads, thigh pads, knee pads and tail pad (or practice pants with built-in pads). Please bring a water bottle labeled with your child's name.

Pre-Season Scrimmages
To prepare our teams for the season, we are planning for a few pre-season scrimmages, with one against the Marple Junior Tigers on Labor Day Weekend. Stay tuned for more information!

Games
The first official football game of the season is an away game at the Haverford Fords, held the weekend of September 5-6-7th. The specific game date/time will be announced by the home team (Haverford Fords). We will send out an email as soon as the date/time is posted. (Games are usually scheduled on Saturday and occasionally on Friday evening or Sunday afternoon.) See the full game schedule for the season >

Flag Game Uniforms
The Norchester Red Knights will provide your child with a game jersey, game pants and flags. Game pants and equipment are to be returned clean after the last scheduled game. Flag players may keep their game jersey at the end of the season! You will need to provide:

  • mouthpiece (not clear)
  • sneakers or cleats (molded rubber)

Tackle Game Uniforms
The Norchester Red Knights will provide your child with a helmet, game jersey, shoulder pads, black game pants, girdle to place pads into, hip pads, thigh pads, knee pads and tail pad. Uniforms and equipment are to be returned clean after the last scheduled game. You will need to provide:

  • cleats (molded rubber)
  • fourstrand chinstrap
  • mouthpiece (not clear)
  • athletic supporter and cup
  • optional - you may wear your black practice pants with built-in pads

Photo Night for League ID Card
Tuesday, August 19 at 7:00pm

* Flag players do not need a League Photo ID Card *

For Tackle teams, new players and players moving up from the Flag team will need to have their photo taken for a League ID Card. We hold onto these cards and use them to sign-in as a team at every football game. To obtain an ID Card, players will need to present their original Birth Certificate. As soon as we have more information on the ID photo date and location, we will pass it along to you. (If you played on one of our Tackle teams last year, we already have your Photo ID Card.)

Kick Off Pep Rally!
Friday, September 5 at 6:30pm at Connie Batdorf Park
Save the date! Norchester Red Knights will host a fun Kick Off Pep Rally to get us fired up for the Fall 2014 Season! This is one of the most popular events for our football players, cheerleaders and families. More details to come!

Team Photo Day
Monday, September 8 beginning at 6:00pm (exact time and location TBD)

We will have a professional photographer come take individual and team/squad photos for purchase. No one is required to order pictures, but all players should be available for taking the team picture. Specific photo times will be scheduled for each team throughout the evening.

FREE Football Fundamentals Camp for Tackle Teams (ages 7-15)
Tuesday through Thursday, August 5-7, 2014 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Join us for a non-contact Football Fundamentals Camp designed to teach young athletes the proper techniques and the fundamentals of football. Drill sessions and demonstrations will be presented under the guidance of the Norchester Red Knights Coaching Staff. Techniques taught include passing, running, ball handling, receiving, blocking, kicking and strength training. FREE for our registered players! Registration Form [pdf] >
